The New York Mets have not been to the playoffs since 2006, when they lost in the NLCS to the St. Louis Cardinals. Since then, it has been a disappointing ride for Mets fans, however this year might just be a good one for the Mets.
The Mets might just have one of the greatest starting pitching staffs in the MLB. They have many young starting pitchers that have proved their dominance such as Matt Harvey, Jacob deGrom, and Dillon Gee. In the past, they have had a good pitching staff but have struggled to score runs for their pitchers. You could have 5 aces in your rotation and still finish with a losing record if you don't score.
The Mets had a tough year on offense in 2014, with only 3 players hitting double digit homeruns. The Mets likely won’t make the playoffs in 2015. Their offense just isn't going to be efficient enough. Michael Cuddyer is old and is injured a lot. David Wright has been injured as well the last two seasons. Also, it is unlikely that 2014 breakout Lucas Duda is going to hit 32 homeruns again in 2015.
While the Mets will not likely make the playoffs, there is still much hope for a winning season.
